Challenges
Established in the bustling hub of Dordrecht, The Netherlands, N-Sea is a recognised name in the oil, gas, and renewables. N-Sea leads the way in providing comprehensive subsea solutions, including survey, inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) and construction, subsea cable repair and installation, and UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) ID and disposal. With over 300 dedicated subsea specialists in their ranks, they manage a diverse array of assets and equipment, from ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) systems to high-tech underwater inspection tools.
However, efficiently tracking, controlling, and maintaining these valuable assets presented a significant challenge. The industry’s highly operational environment, combined with the complexity of managing a wide range of offshore and subsea equipment, demanded a specialised solution.
Juriaan Claudius, Base Manager at N-Sea, spoke about their key requirements: “We needed an asset management system to effectively track our IT equipment, survey equipment and ROVs. Simple, easy-to-use, and comprehensive tracking capabilities were our priority. Having had a positive experience with FMIS at my previous company, I felt it would be a suitable fit for our needs at N-Sea.”
FMIS answered the call with its advanced Asset Tracking and Equipment Maintenance software. The Asset Tracking system allowed N-Sea to catalogue vital information about their assets, including location, status, and maintenance history. With the addition of FMIS Mobile Asset Manager, this information could be accessed and updated from any mobile device, enhancing their control over offshore assets.
“The FMIS system gives you a clear overview, and the processes work really well,” Juriaan added. “Our teams on the vessels and other locations can immediately see where all our equipment is. We can quickly determine whether we have equipment in stock or whether we need to rent it. This has boosted our efficiency considerably.”
Implementing FMIS software solutions has resulted in several key benefits for N-Sea. They can now easily attach certification documents to their assets, making them readily accessible to staff on vessels. This new capability, according to Juriaan, “helps us keep track of all our certifications.”
Moreover, N-Sea now enjoys a streamlined work order process for maintenance, enhancing the organisation and tracking of their subsea equipment. Juriaan explained, “We mostly use FMIS for tracking the location of our assets and setting up work orders to track maintenance history more effectively. It works very well for us.”
Juriaan summarised their FMIS experience: “I would recommend FMIS to other users. The pricing is very good, and the software is excellent. It gives us a good overview of what’s happening in the company. It’s been instrumental in enhancing our asset tracking and maintenance processes.”
Like N-Sea, your company can streamline its asset management and optimise operations with FMIS software.
